Congratulations To Dr Ifedayo Adetifa For Being Awarded A 2018 Mrc/Dfid African Research Leader Fellowship!

The African Research Leader (ARL) scheme is a prestigious award, jointly funded under the MRC/DFID concordat agreement. The scheme aims to strengthen research leadership across sub-Saharan Africa by attracting and retaining exceptionally talented individuals who will undertake high-quality programmes of research on key global health issues pertinent to the region.

Dr Adetifa will begin his Fellowship in January 2019.

Congratulations To Dr Christine Sekaggya-Wiltshire Who Was Awarded The Stephen Lawn Tb-Hiv Research Leadership Prize!

The Stephen Lawn TB-HIV Research Leadership Prize was established in 2016 through a global partnership between the TB Centre in London, The Desmond Tutu HIV Centre in Cape Town and The Union. It acknowledges young researchers under 40 years of age who are conducting promising work focused on reducing the disease burden of TB and HIV/AIDS in Africa. This year’s winner is Dr Christine Sekaggya-Wiltshire, who leads the HIV-TB clinic at the Infectious Diseases Institute at Makerere University in Kampala. Dr Sekaggya-Wiltshire supervises care for complex cases of TB that are referred from health centres, and has conducted pharmacokinetic studies on anti-TB drugs in HIV patients.

Who Africa Innovation Challenge- A Call For New Solutions To Improve Health Outcomes In Africa

The World Health Organization (WHO) in the African Region has launched the first WHO Africa Innovation Challenge calling for health innovations with the potential for having significant social impact and addressing the unmet health needs on the continent.

L'Organisation mondiale de la Santé (OMS) dans la région africaine a lancé le premier Défi pour l'innovation en Afrique de l'OMS, qui demande des innovations en termes de santé susceptibles d'avoir un impact social important et de répondre aux besoins de santé non satisfaits sur le continent.

O Escritório Regional da Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS) lançou o primeiro Desafio de Inovação para a África da OMS que apela à apresentação de inovações em matéria de saúde com potencial para terem um impacto social significativo e responderem às necessidades de saúde não satisfeitas no continente.

African Academy Of Sciences - Database For Clinical Trial Capacities

African Academy of Sciences grant opportunity: The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) is inviting organizations to submit information regarding their interest in developing an open database for clinical trial capacities and sites on the African continent. The database, which will be managed by the AAS, should be tailored to answer questions from potential trial sponsors, collaborators, and participants. The submission deadline is November 22, 2018.
